Yamwelu Civil & Structural Engineers, herein referred to as “Yamwelu,” is a 100% Zambian company that was established in 2023 to respond to infrastructure development challenges experienced in rural and urban communities.
Yamwelu aims to contribute to the design and construction management of developmental infrastructure projects, such as roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, clinics, houses, warehouses, and other facilities. The company has the expertise and tools for efficient design, construction, and project management of such infrastructure to address service delivery gaps in the nation.
Yamwelu‘s focus is to offer engineering services to both government and private clients to uplift people’s lives through efficient design and construction of new infrastructure and refurbishment of existing structures. The sustainable development of Zambia relies on companies that promote practices that enforce the ideas of NEPAD and help contribute to the realization of the millennium goals. We plan to promote these practices by executing operations that improve the socio-economic development of our people. We are sharing in this document the services that Yamwelu can offer and the expertise and skills available to deliver world-class service to you.

Structural Analysis and Design is undertaken by use of STAAD Pro design software. This software enables us to perform 3D structural analysis and design for both steel and concrete structures.
A physical model created in structural design software can be transformed into an analytical model for structural analysis. The software incorporates many design codes to make sure that the structural design complies with local regulations.
The Civil Engineering Design is undertaken by use of AutoCAD Civil3D which is the civil engineering software that supports Building Information Modelling (BIM) with integrated features which enable us to improve drafting, design and construction documentation for civil engineering, energy and utilities, infrastructure, land development and renewable projects.
The principal of the company has more than 33 years experience in tailings management both in South Africa and Zambia. He has worked with various mine residues which include gold, platinum, copper, coal, diamond, nickel and andalusites.
The company has the capacity to undertake tailings deposition management and operations of associated tailing storage facilities(TSF) using GISTM principles. The deposition methodologies include spigotting, cycloning and day walling.
We can manage the full project life cycle from conception, feasibility study, design, implementation, and handover to the clients. The company uses the project management methodology based on the PMBOK.
The company has the capacity to offer the services as a Responsible Tailings Facilities Engineer(RFTE) who is accountable for the integrity of the tailings facility, who liaises with the Engineer of Record(EOR) and internal teams such as operations, planning, and regulatory affairs in compliance with the Global Standard on Tailings Management(GISTM).
The company has the capacity to manage legally binding agreements from initiation through execution using different contract formats like GCC,NEC4,FIDIC and JBCC.
The company has the capacity to provide professional construction management services that provide the project owners with the effective management of the project’s schedule, cost, quality, safety, scope, and function.
The company has the capacity to provide the services of an Engineering Buyer to support bespoke projects which include technical procurement, managing supply chain costs and delivery, analyzing BOMs and engineering drawings to understand key manufacturing requirements.
